Research is perhaps the core activity of DRN – design is generated from data extrapolated from the existing problem, reconsidered and recompiled to provide an understanding of optimised workflow or best practice. Research at DRN takes the form of socially impactful, global and regional problem solving through software analysis by data trawls, pattern recognition, machine learning and generative outputs.
This can result in the revisiting of the strategic approaches to social, community or city policies. DRN initiates the gathering of data, provides interpretation and optimisation, and then generates a proposed solution. This can take the form of a book, paper, journal article, workshop which describes in-depth the context of the problem and then proposes a new methodology towards achieving a different, more successful outcome.
