THE CONWY MODULAR HOUSE

DRN are in the design development stage of a private house design in Conwy based on the principles of on-site modular building. The project will consider the different approaches to optimisation in design with a house on a strict budget, on a difficult to access, steeply-sloping site in Wales. Limited transport access to the site means that large span structural elements are impossible to deliver to site. As such, DRN are assessing on site building methodologies, along with (just) off-site construction of mid-sized housing components.

The design process began with a live studio project that proposed a wide range of design solutions to the clients. Ideas learnt from the briefing and reviewing process of this enabled an accelerated timescale for brief writing due to familiarisation with both the problem and proposed solution.
